Maxwell Jones confirmed as Dean of Science, Medical Studies & Engineering

Maxwell Jones has been confirmed to the position of Dean in the Science, Medical Studies and Engineering sector by the Board of Governors.
Max has been at Dawson since 2009 working as a Support Staff in Human Resources, the Office of Academic Development and the Arts, Literature and Communication program. He also was a faculty member of Dawson鈥檚 Centre for Training and Development, teaching English as a Second Language.
Since 2017, he played a role in managing the two largest pre-university programs at Dawson. He then served as the Associate Dean for the Science, Medical Studies and Engineering Sector for over three years 鈥 working with more than 200 faculty from seventeen departments, and over thirty support staff. It is an understatement to say that during that time he developed an understanding of the challenges and strengths of all SMSE programs.
We wish Max every success in his new role and know that he will receive our full support and collaboration as he takes on his new responsibilities.听
Dawson overall winner of CRC Robotics competition

Dawson鈥檚 Robotics team was the overall champion and won or placed in almost all categories at the CRC Robotics competition in mid-February. They brought home two trophies and 11 plaques.
"Our team demonstrated an incredible spirit of togetherness, creativity, ingenuity and perseverance," said Joel Trudeau, faculty mentor to the team of 30 Dawson students. "Their joy and team spirit was inspirational!"

Visual Arts student chosen for residency at the MMFA

Dawson Visual Arts student Rowan Michael Draper has been selected for a prestigious residency for young digital artists at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.
Starting March 6, Rowan will be spending between two to four hours a week at the museum with access to a studio and the museum鈥檚 technological equipment. The residency is until June.

Strategic Plan Consultations and Teams Site

As part of the development of the 2023-2028 Strategic Plan, consultations across the Dawson Community have been ongoing since Winter 2022. Departments, programs, students, and the full range of services and units that support the college's academic mission have been queried on student success, the Graduate Profile, Dawson's values and a new set of strategic orientations for the next five years.
If you'd like an update on the activities and progress of the Strategic Plan Working Group and Writing Committee, to view posts on the timeline for development of the plan and on some of the draft components developed so far. Feedback is welcome in the form of public comments on the posts.
The Strategic Plan Writing Committee is led by听Leanne Bennett, Academic Dean, and includes Sameer Bhatnagar, Quality Assurance and Planning; Cathy Giulietti, Executive Assistant, Academic Dean; Dianne Hawryluck, Academic Advising; Ian MacKenzie, Faculty; 听and Alan Stewart, Assistant to the Academic Dean.
