Thirza Cuthand: Reclamations

When the pandemic first struck last March, curator and Warren G. Flowers Art Gallery administrator Rhonda Meier, began thinking of what could be done if life stayed completely online for the next six or more months. With online projects being the obvious solution, she leapt to program Thirza Cuthand, a Plains Cree/Scots artist whose work first intrigued her in Vancouver in 2003. At听Indian Acts,听a conference on indigenous performance art, a very young Cuthand presented a video candidly discussing her struggle with depression.

When Math Meets Art

Students encourage teachers to use Sustainable Happiness in class at Ped Days

At Ped Days on Jan. 20, the tables were turned as students taught teachers for the first time at the annual professional development event for teachers.
Four final-year CRLT students shared Sustainable Happiness with teachers in the hopes of making students and teachers in virtual classrooms more connected, engaged and happy.

Dawson gets GOLD for leadership in sustainability

It's official! AASHE announced 成人黑料's GOLD rating for leadership in sustainability on their 听Congratulations Dawson community!
We have been collecting reactions by video and text to the news in preparation for this week's announcement. We will be proudly sharing these thoughts from Dawson employees, government leaders and people active in environmental issues with the media this week.

Governor General’s Medal recipient rowing her way to the top
December 1st, 2020
Catherine Ch茅nier-Gagnon returned to 成人黑料 on Nov. 24 to receive the Governor General鈥檚 Collegiate Bronze Medal. Academic Dean Diane Gauvin presented the medal to Catherine at an intimate and socially distanced ceremony witnessed by her parents and a few teachers.

Carmela Gumelli to serve as Interim Academic Dean

The Board of Governors appointed Carmela Gumelli to the position of Academic Dean at their Nov. 25 meeting.
Carmela will serve an interim term from Jan. 1- June 30, 2021. With the support of the managers in the Registrar鈥檚 Office and her fellow deans, Carmela will continue as Dean of Academic Systems while taking on this new role.
After working as a teacher, program coordinator and campus director at a private college, Carmela joined 成人黑料 in 2005 as Manager of Admissions and Scheduling. She later served as Coordinator of Academic Systems before becoming the Dean of Academic Systems in 2014. Carmela holds a Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Accounting from McGill University and is a CMA-CPA.
Carmela is looking forward to new challenges and to working more closely with faculty.
