Worms to transform Dawson waste into fertilizer

A waste management team consisting of worms will begin working at Dawson this spring thanks to a grant from Colleges and Institutes Canada. Their task is simple: consume the organic waste we throw into our hallway sorting stations and transform it into nutrient-rich fertilizer for our gardens.

Professional Photography students staff grad portrait pop-up studio

The Dawson Professional Photography students partnered again this year with Campus Life and Leadership (CLL) and members of the Dawson Web Group to offer graduation portraits to over 600 of 2023 Dawson grads. The collaboration is an excellent example of communities working together to achieve mutually beneficial goals.

Students learn leadership skills and make lasting friendships at Model UN

About 60 students were able to participate in the 成人黑料 Model United Nations (DCMUN) para-academic activity this year thanks in part to funding from the Student Academic Enrichment Fund of the Dawson Foundation.
Model UN has a long history at 成人黑料, with the activity running on and off since the late 1990s. The current iteration of DCMUN was established in the 2010-2011 academic year and has been running ever since.

Dawson community mobilizing to identify 1,000 species in 1,000 days

All students and employees at 成人黑料 are invited to join an initiative to identify 1,000 species in 1,000 days on Dawson鈥檚 downtown Montreal campus.
鈥淲e believe that identifying 1,000 species is possible but does pose a significant challenge,鈥 said Brian Mader, project lead and a biology teacher at Dawson. 鈥淲e invite all students and employees to join . The more people from our community who participate, the higher the chances of reaching our goal. This project will also nurture our Dawson community and encourage people to go outside and enjoy Nature.鈥

Four Dawson students presented abstract at Lunar and Planetary Science conference

When it was time to submit an abstract to the Lunar and Planetary Science Conference in Texas, the Dawson student team was not sure which category described them best.
鈥淚 think we are the first CEGEP students to present research at the LPI! Undergraduate was the category closest to us,鈥 said Darcy Loane-Billings (Pure & Applied Science), lead author of the abstract and second-year student at Dawson.

25th Edition of Artists in Bloom is April 20

Springtime means that Artists in Bloom is back! The event will be in-person on Thursday, April 20 at 5:30 p.m. in 3C.1 It will also be possible to buy prints online from April 11-28. This year will be the fundraising event鈥檚 25th annual edition鈥 a quarter century! We are excited to welcome you to the event and to see what our talented student artists will produce. Advance tickets are only $20 and will be for sale as of Monday, March 27 in 2E.6 and 4A.1 Your ticket gives you entrance to the event, one drink and hors d'oeuvres.

Dawson overall winner of CRC Robotics competition

Dawson鈥檚 Robotics team was the overall champion and won or placed in almost all categories at the CRC Robotics competition in mid-February. They brought home two trophies and 11 plaques.
"Our team demonstrated an incredible spirit of togetherness, creativity, ingenuity and perseverance," said Joel Trudeau, faculty mentor to the team of 30 Dawson students. "Their joy and team spirit was inspirational!"
