Support for students now and through the winter break
December 5th, 2024
As we enter the exam period, followed by the winter break, students may be in need of psychological support outside regular work hours. During these times, students have access to the Dawson Student Assistance Program (also known as GuardMe), which is a 24/7 network of external mental health professionals reachable for free by telephone, video or in-person appointments in 60+ languages.
As employees of the College, you can also call to get advice on how to help a student and you can call with a student in need of help. Contact them by calling 1-844-451-9700 or by downloading and using the application here:
White Ribbon Campaign report
December 5th, 2024
To the wonderful Dawson Community,
On behalf of Student Services, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who volunteered their time to help raise awareness for the White Ribbon Campaign. A very special mention to Johanne Rabbat, Coordinator of Women's Gender Studies Certificate and Chair of the Religion department.
Since Monday, we have handed out roughly 500 ribbons, and have been able to connect with many community members.
They shared their personal stories and recollections of the tragic shooting at Polytechnique, which took place 35 years ago on Dec. 6, 1989.
To commemorate the 35th anniversary, we will be installing a small memorial table tomorrow, Friday, Dec. 6 at the top stairs on the 2nd floor.
