World of Images Intercollegiate Photo Contest: enter by March 10

The CCDMD鈥檚 tenth World of Images Intercollegiate Photo Contest is open to students and all employees of the CEGEP network. Since 2012, more than 15,000 photographs have been submitted by more than 2,700 CEGEP students.
For this 10th edition, $3,000 in grants will be awarded.聽Files must be uploaded in maximum resolution and submitted for approval directly through the World of Images website by March 10, 2021. Each participant can submit up to 10 photographs. The results will be announced in April 2021.

Peer mentor program continues to support new students

In September of 2020, Dawson鈥檚 COVID-19 Steering Committee approved the creation of a student peer mentoring initiative. The plan was to assemble and train a team of second- and third-year students who would mentor new students adjusting to the remote learning environment.

Join Montreal Kneels for Change Wednesday at 8:15 p.m.

Dawson graduate Denburk Reid聽(Class of 2000, Marketing and Management Technology) has organized Montreal Kneels for Change, a live event on Instagram on Feb. 24. The goals are to raise awareness of local social justice issues, honour the life of Sheffield Matthews and denounce the injustices committed against Mamadi III Fara Camara.
鈥淎s a community, we must come together and demonstrate our solidarity,鈥 Denburk said.
We are invited to:

Website live for First Peoples’ Post-Secondary Storytelling Exchange

A celebration was held online Feb. 16 to launch the new website of the First Peoples' Post-Secondary Storytelling Exchange project. About 170 people attended from all over Quebec and other parts of Canada. An elder opened the event, some of the storytellers shared their experiences, a quliq was lit, a video was premiered and the new website was shown.

Powerful stories bring Indigenous perspectives to higher education

Storytelling is at the heart of the oral cultures of Indigenous peoples in Canada. A unique project in Quebec led by 成人黑料 faculty uses storytelling to advance the inclusion and welcome of Indigenous cultures and students in higher education institutions.
鈥淥ur project is about changing the culture in academic institutions, underlining the need for Indigenous people to have leadership roles within these institutions and making sure that Indigenous perspectives are reflected and part of the educational experience for everyone,鈥 explained Michelle Smith, a faculty member of Dawson鈥檚 Cinema | Communications Department and principal investigator.
