Uncertainty is everywhere as the whole world 鈥減resses pause鈥 to deal with the worst pandemic in over 100 years.

Each time a crisis occurs, it provides us with the opportunity to 鈥渟eparate the wheat from the chaff.鈥 We are called to strip away the unessential tasks and distractions, focus on the present moment and on the truly important people and tasks in our lives.

Dawson Gives, Well-being for all

Seniors: we have helpers available

About a dozen employees of Dawson responded last week to let us know they are available to help the seniors in our community. If you are a Dawson employee or retiree over 70 years old, please let us know if you would like a telephone visitor or help getting groceries.

Doubly proud of our Blues!

Two Dawson Blues Division 1 Basketball players, Taisha Exanor and Mackenzie Ash-Smith, have made history! On March 18, the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) announced that Taisha and Mackenzie are recognized as 2020 CCAA Women鈥檚 Basketball All-Canadians.

The student-athletes are selected by their conference based on performance and contribution to the sport and their team. Dawson's conference is the R茅seau du sport 茅tudiant du Qu茅bec (RSEQ and our players were chosen by the RSEQ league coaches.

It is the first time since 1986 that two Blues were named All-Canadians, and it is the first-time since 2008 that an RSEQ team has two.

Working on solutions and processing applications

成人黑料 is working on solutions to salvage the semester and applications are being processed as usual.

As of March 23, the Admissions Team had sent out 4,700 offers of admission.

成人黑料 shared this news with our employees first and then with select media on March 20. CJAD 800 AM interviewed Director General Richard Filion during the Andrew Carter Morning Show March 23.

Caring for Dawson鈥檚 plants and creatures

Dawson employees care for hundreds of plants in their offices and work areas. This beautiful orchid, pictured, was blooming when the Sustainability team聽 came by on their plant-care rounds on Friday. The team is ensuring that everyone鈥檚 plants are taken care of during the College closure. Any employee who has plants that need care at the College can fill out a 聽form.聽The first plant-care rounds were done yesterday and Friday.

Our lives have been chaotic over the past week, and many of us are experiencing anxiety and stress. Working from home while caring for children at home is challenging. Even getting groceries is stressful.

Meditation available every day at 2 p.m.

Can't go out? Then go in! The current situation provides an unparalleled opportunity to practice meditation.

With everything falling apart,聽we have the chance to examine hitherto neglected aspects of ourselves. Daniel Goldsmith (Humanities) is offering guided meditation every day from 2-2:30 p.m., alternating between calm centering and compassion practices.
