Become a REB Member
The Research Ethics Board (REB) is currently looking for dedicated individuals interested in research or ethics to join their team.
As a member of the REB, you will play a vital role in ensuring that research involving human participants conducted at or under the auspices of the College adheres to the highest ethical standards.
Members can expect to dedicate approximately 2-4 hours per month, which includes attending monthly meetings (1.5 hrs), occasional delegated review of low risk studies (1-2 hrs, as needed), preparation for full board reviews (1-2 hrs, as needed), and other related activities.
Members are appointed for an initial one-year term, with the possibility of renewal.
While a background in research or ethics is an asset, it is not required, and various training opportunities are available.
If you are interested in joining the REB, please complete the REB Membership Form below.
The REB welcomes applications for membership in the following categories:
Representative Knowledgeable in Ethics
Candidates for this membership category need to have sufficient knowledge to guide an REB in identifying and addressing ethics issues. A balance of ethics theory, practice and experience offers the most effective path to knowledge in ethics for REB membership.
Representative Knowledgeable in the Relevant Disciplines
Relevant Research Disciplines include the Social Sciences and Humanities, Educational Research, Research Methods, Nursing, Community and Social Services. Candidates for this membership category should be knowledgeable in a range of quantitative or qualitative research methods for research projects involving human participants. Representative Knowledgeable in the Law
The role of the member knowledgeable in the law is to alert the REB of legal issues and their implications (e.g., privacy issues). Knowledge and/or work experience with privacy and confidentially laws would be considered an asset.
Community Member
Candidates for this membership category must not be affiliated with 成人黑料. It is advisable that Community Member candidates not be currently engaged in research activities or practice law as their primary activity. Experience as a participant in a research study would be considered an asset.
