Review Eligibility for Accommodations
Students who have never registered with the SAAC and wish to review their eligibility are asked to complete the form and upload their medical document, or psycho-educational evaluation issued by an authorized Quebec licensed professional. Ideally, the document should contain a clear diagnosis, as well as the name, signature and license number of the professional, date of the evaluation/appointment and the name of the student. In the event of not having the appropriate documentation with a diagnosis, students can still complete the process.
Once you’ve submitted your form and documentation, we will review your information. If your file is complete, we will send you instructions on how to book an appointment with an Adapted Services Counsellor. Together with the student, the Adapted Services Counsellor will look at what services or reasonable and justifiable accommodations can be put in place in order to minimize potential barriers.
If you do not have documentation or if your form is incomplete, we may ask you to provide more details. In some instances, we may refer you to another service for support.
Newly admitted students
Documentation or information about the student’s disability or situation are not transferred from High School to Cegep. The student is responsible for making the initial contact with our service if they wish to review their eligibility for receiving services.
Note: Students who only have an IEP from High School and no other diagnostic document are not guaranteed to receive in Cegep the same services or accommodations they had in High School.
Fall admittance: We expect to contact students in June to schedule an appointment. These appointments will typically take place during the summer months but due to high demands, may run into the start of the semester.
Winter admittance: We expect to contact students in December or early January to schedule an appointment. Given the short break between semesters, appointment may run into the start of the semester.
